The deportation of Timothy Omotoso from South Africa has brought attention to the Nigerian televangelist.
Because Timothy Omotoso was deemed undesirable by the Department of Home Affairs, he was deported on May 18, 2025.

Just weeks after being exonerated of several serious charges, Nigerian televangelist Timothy Omotoso was deported from South Africa.

Following Omotoso’s official classification as a “undesirable person” by the South African Department of Home Affairs, he was expelled from the nation on May 18, 2025. At OR Tambo International Airport, the clerk is shown being accompanied by police and immigration officers as he boards a flight headed for Nigeria in a widely circulated video.
Shortly after Omotoso was acquitted on 32 charges, including rape and human trafficking, in April 2025, this development occurred. Before being exonerated of all allegations, he was detained in 2017 and held for almost eight years, which is where his legal issues began.
The case had garnered a lot of public attention over the years, and the acquittal that followed sparked discussion and controversy about the legal system and how it affected the accused as well as the claimed victims.
