John Dramani Mahama, the president of Ghana, visited Abuja on Thursday for personal reasons, according to Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy.
As previously reported by Naija News, President Tinubu hosted John Dramani Mahama of Ghana as a courtesy guest at his official residence in the State House in Abuja.
Arriving at 2:30 pm, Mahama is making his first trip to see his Nigerian counterpart since his inauguration on January 7, 2025.
Onanuga posted about the meeting between the two leaders on his 𝕏 account, stating that the Ghanaian president was there on a private visit.
Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. It was a private visit from Mahama,” he wrote.
In the meantime, President Bola Tinubu will celebrate his 73rd birthday on Saturday by joining Muslims at the National Mosque in Abuja for a national prayer session on Friday.
There have been rumors that the president may also take this opportunity to express gratitude to God for protecting and guiding him through the difficult task of leading the country’s affairs.

Two months before his administration’s second anniversary, President Tinubu’s birthday falls during the holy month of Ramadan.
