The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) chairman, Chief Dan Ulasi, has stated that only God knows if the party would win the president in the general elections in 2027.
Ulasi said on Friday’s Arise Television Morning Show that although the PDP is working to restructure before the elections, divine will is ultimately what would determine its existence and success.
The PDP chieftain said that at least seven PDP governors attended the party’s most recent National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, calling it a welcome indication of solidarity and dedication to reorienting the party.
The PDP has zoned its presidential ticket to the South, Ulasi added, but since it hasn’t produced a president under the existing democratic regime, fairness requires that it be micro-zoned to the South East.

In response, he stated: “Well, I’ll respond by saying that only God will know whether the PDP will win the presidency in 2027. Who will still be alive tomorrow morning is a mystery. I don’t make assumptions that are beyond of my control, and I usually say that. We hope or aspire to take action, if God wills it.
If PDP prevails, as we hope to… We had nearly seven of our governors present at the most recent National Executive Meeting. It was encouraging to see that everyone is now considering ways to restructure the party and set it up for success in 2027 and other upcoming elections.
The party has chosen to zone the presidency to the south, but I’m not sure who the candidate will be. Indeed, and as you stated, if there is integrity, they ought to microzone it to the South East, as, in theory, we are currently the only region that has not had a president during this period.
