Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was chastised by Arise TV presenter Rufai Oseni for his altercation with teammate Ademola Lookman on the field during Nigeria’s 4-0 victory over Mozambique in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to reports, Nigeria won the round of 16 match on Monday night. Osimhen scored twice, and Lookman and Akor Adams also scored to guarantee a spot in the quarterfinals.
After Lookman missed a chance to score in the second half, the two players got into an altercation.
The situation was defused by other players.
Moses Simon took Osimhen’s position when he motioned to the bench to be replaced.
During Tuesday’s Arise News Global Sports Update, Oseni shared his thoughts on the issue and questioned Osimhen’s attitude.
Lookman, he claimed, had accomplished just as much as Osimhen.
With all due respect, they stated that Osimhen should travel to Turkey. What foolishness? What ridiculous mindset?
“You’ve accomplished what Ademola Lookman has. Both of you have been named African Footballer of the Year. What motivates you to accomplish this?
Oseni added that Osimhen should issue an apology before rejoining the team and demanded disciplinary punishment.
Place your hands down. We cannot introduce discipline in any other way. He stated that Osimhen must apologize to his comrade before being permitted to return to the team.
Osimhen’s alleged response following the altercation was also criticized by him.
“Giving up his accreditation and declaring, ‘I’m done, I want to go to Turkey,’ is what he should apologize for.” “They ought to hire a private aircraft so he can travel,” Oseni stated.
According to Rufai Oseni, Osimhen is not essential to the group.
“Are you divine? He will realize that you are not indispensable if they win the Nations Cup behind him, which is what I desire. “People were there before you, and you’re there now,” he remarked.
