The tactical squad has been instructed by Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun to bring calm back to Osun State after a political crisis broke out early on Monday.
The IGP declared he would not put up with anarchy, lawlessness, or hooliganism of any kind and promised to hold those responsible for the chaos during the crisis accountable.
The warning was delivered by force spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement released on Monday.

According to the statement, “The Nigeria Police Force has strongly condemned the incidents that have disrupted peace and safety in Osun State and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice in response to the ongoing violence in the state.”These violent acts had broken the calm, causing property damage and the tragic deaths of innocent people.

To improve security and reestablish peace and order, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has taken quick action by directing the deployment of more tactical units to Osun State.

In light of the fact that violence erodes democracy and jeopardizes public safety, the police acknowledge this and pledge to find and prosecute those who perpetrate these crimes and hold them accountable.

The IGP warns individuals who pose a threat to Osun State’s peace and stability that the Force would not put up with any acts of anarchy, hooliganism, or lawlessness in the state.

“Those who commit these crimes will be apprehended and compelled to deal with the fallout from their unjustified, unfortunate actions. The public must maintain composure while things return to normal.

It is accordingly recommended that Osun indigenous people, leaders, and stakeholders refrain from violence and carry on with their lawful activities.

As the last judge of all election disputes, the judiciary must be respected and followed by political players in order to safeguard democratic norms and the rule of law.

It is recommended that citizens conduct their legal business. The Force reaffirms its determination to suppress any violent actors who want to cause chaos and a breakdown of law and order anywhere in the nation.

“All residents will be able to live in a safe environment as the situation in Osun is closely monitored and measures are enforced.”
