Following the accusation of sexual harassment made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of representing Kogi Central, some Nigerians have demanded that Senate President Godswill Akpabio quit.
According to sources, the senator said that her problems in the Senate started when she turned down Akpabio’s sexual advances in an interview on Arise TV on Friday, February 28, 2025.
Online uproar has been sparked by the accusation. While some Nigerians have called for Akpabio’s resignation to allow for a thorough inquiry, others have asserted that the case may be handled lightly and that Natasha will be held accountable for the outburst.

Seeing your full interview with Arise this morning confirmed my belief that Nigerians should only choose leaders who are capable of governing, not engage in sexual exploitation (as we all heard in the recent voicemail that went viral about a politician who rents private planes to have sex with women) or disrespect for the law. There have been previous allegations of sexual offenses against women against Senator Akpabio. Today, sexual exploitation is becoming more common and occurs in workplaces, schools, and other settings.

These charges are not out of the question for those who know Senate President Akpabio, but he must be presumed innocent until proven guilty. The quantity of hateful taunts directed at Natasha, the purported victim, is concerning, though, as she should be given the benefit of the doubt until everything has been looked into. You have to wonder what people’s mental states are. Have they become so dehumanized as a result of the trauma caused by politicians’ mismanagement?
