Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has counseled the African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership led by David Mark to cease attributing their problems to President Bola Tinubu.
Instead of placing the blame on the ruling party, he suggested that the opposition alliance look within and find a solution to its internal dilemma.
Oyintiloye said in a statement released in Osogbo on Monday that Tinubu is not a court of law that ordered the ADC to return to its pre-merger executives while a matter brought by one of its members was being decided at the Federal High Court.
Instead of blaming the president for the party’s internal strife, Oyintiloye said the delisted ADC leadership must have the guts to tell Nigerians the truth.
“I will advise the ADC to put its house in order and stop blaming Tinubu for its crisis,” he declared. Since the president is a true democrat, he won’t need to undermine any party in order to win reelection in 2027.
Tinubu has no time to meddle in pointless political affairs and is not a member of the Court of Appeal that rendered the ruling.
“Targeting Tinubu is a poor decision if the ADC is looking for someone to blame.”
According to Oyintiloye, neither Tinubu nor the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made the decision to deny recognition to any ADC faction until all legal disputes were settled; rather, it was the outcome of a court decision.
“Rather than playing a blame game, I would advise the ADC to look inward and resolve its internal crisis,” he continued.
He advised politicians to follow the law and refrain from actions that could end up being their downfall.
He asserts that “using blackmail will not save ADC.” If the party wants Nigerians to acknowledge it as a power in the country’s political arena, it must start over and rethink its approach.
