Former President Olusegun Obasanjo received a courtesy call by Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential contender, as part of his New Year’s activities.
Obi’s travel follows trips to Abuja to meet with former President Goodluck Jonathan and Minna, Niger State, to meet with former military president General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.
On Friday, Obi thanked Obasanjo for the chance to talk about national concerns and posted pictures from the encounter on social media site X.
The author wrote: “Today, I traveled from Abuja to Lagos to visit His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, a father figure, leader, and former president of Nigeria, to wish him a happy new year and also to discuss matters of national concern.”

Obi noted that the former president is still one of the leaders who saw Nigeria improve significantly and commended Obasanjo for his wise counsel and gentle direction.
Obi stated that he is still contributing his wisdom to the solutions of the numerous problems that our country faces.
From 1976 to 1979, Obasanjo presided over Nigeria as its head of state. From 1999 to 2007, he was its president.
