In order to create confusion in the country’s political ecosystem, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has claimed that some unidentified individuals pay Nigerian youths as little as N20,000 and N40,000.
Speaking on the topic of “Politics and Change in Nigeria” at John Hopkins University in the United States, Obi claimed that young people had been tricked into fighting against people who genuinely cared about them.

He urged young people in Nigeria to stop collecting money, especially peanuts, as this could ruin their promising future. Instead, they should look for better ways to incorporate transactional politics for the benefit of both the country and themselves.
As I stand here now, Obi stated, “So, people pay them to cause confusion, and if you look at social media, all those who are paid N20,000 to N40,000 a month to abuse you are young people who are fighting for their lives.”
“You can get it right in Nigeria’s transactional politics,” the former governor of Anambra State stated, adding that he was nearly 60 and only had a few years left.
