Prior to the 2027 election, Peter Obi would join the Social Democratic Party (SDP), according to Adewole Adebayo, the party’s former presidential candidate.
Adebayo reportedly claimed he was unconcerned with the inflow of powerful opposition politicians joining the SDP.
During an interview with the Daily Independent, the former presidential candidate disclosed that he was notified that the previous Labour Party presidential candidate would be joining the SDP.
He said that receiving his party’s ticket depends on his party members when asked if the influx of powerful opposition lawmakers would not hurt his chances.
Getting the ticket is up to the SDP personnel. They’re familiar with me. My party is growing, and we are inviting more members. My efforts to welcome them are evident. Our only minor complaint about some of them is that we need to alter their culture. You must acclimate to an atmosphere where rules are followed if you have never been in one where they are taken seriously. Some of them are involved in black market activities and Boy Scout activities. That is what we are addressing. We accept them into the celebration, though.

“We think their arrival will make the party stronger. I am completely unconcerned about the arrival of the individuals you listed, including Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Nasir El-Rufai. Even Governor Peter Obi is coming, I was informed. Many folks will be attending. They’re welcome. We’re not having any issues,” he declared.
Regarding the former governor of Anambra State joining the SDP, he went on to say that Obi’s supporters had been in contact with his party.
Obi and Atiku Abubakar must follow the party’s rules if they join, Adebayo continued.
In 2027, he emphasized, President Bola Tinubu would lose if there was transparency.
According to rumors, Peter Obi is joining, but we won’t know until someone does. I welcome everyone to join in the conversation with his people. When they do show up, they have to abide by the rules so that one person can emerge openly, without dishonesty or illegal activity, like we did in our 2022 conference. We can provide Nigerians a viable alternative if they embrace our culture and don’t hesitate to pay or deceive in order to succeed. “From day one, we will take care of Nigerians, defeat the APC, and retire President Tinubu,” he continued.
