Quadri Yusuf Alabi’s attorney, Effiong Inibehe, has sought ₦100 million in compensation for the 17-year-old.
Quadri was cleared Thursday of an armed robbery charge, according to reports.
The Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Babajide Martins, provided legal advice that led to the release of Peter Obi’s supporter, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, Inibehe said in a statement.
There was no proof that Quadri committed the alleged crime, he claimed, and Martins informed A.O. Olorunfemi, the sitting magistrate.
“His Honour, A. O. Olorunfemi (Mrs.), the presiding magistrate in the court today, affirmed that the legal advice provided by Dr. Babajide Martins, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) of the Ministry of Justice, Lagos State, indicated that there was no evidence to support the allegation of armed robbery against Quadri.” The DPP suggested that Quadri not be prosecuted in his Legal Advice. Because of this, he was released by the presiding magistrate.
“We applaud the DPP for sticking to the facts in this case,” he stated.
Inibehe also insisted that the Nigerian Police look into the actions of every officer who was involved in Quadri’s detention.
“We demand that the Inspector General of Police, the Lagos State Command’s Commissioner of Police, and the IPO, along with one Inspector Odigbe Samuel and other officers who took part in this evil, sinister, oppressive, and corrupt scheme of framing a teenager for armed robbery at the behest of rogue ‘Area Boys,’ remove the DPO of Amukoko Divisional Headquarters and subject him to an orderly room trial immediately.”
As compensation, we seek that the Nigeria Police Force provide our client a total of one hundred million naira (₦100,000,000.00).
We further demand that the police issue a public apology.
“If the three remedial demands listed above are not promptly completely complied with, we will take legal action to obtain restitution.

“Quadri’s story is a heartbreaking illustration of the Nigeria Police Force’s endemic injustice, heinous impunity, and rotten corruption.
He went on to say, “Unchecked criminality, lawlessness, and a lack of accountability in the Police institution and the weakness of the justice system are the reasons why many Quadris are in detention centers across Nigeria.”
