Photojournalists Honour Lagos NAWOJ Chairperson With ‘Exemplary Leadership’ Award

The Photojournalists Association of Nigeria (PJAN) has conferred the prestigious award of “Exemplary Leadership for Positive Repositioning of Women Journalists in Lagos State” Comrade Adeola Ekine, the Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Lagos State Chapter. The award ceremony took place on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the Ladi Lawal Press Center, Iyalla, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
The award recognizes Adeola Ekine’s unwavering commitment to the advancement of women journalists in Lagos State and her exceptional leadership that has brought about transformative change in NAWOJ, Lagos State Chapter. Under her leadership, NAWOJ Lagos has championed the empowerment of female journalists, the promotion of gender equality, the advocacy for the rights and welfare of women in the media profession and the opening of NAWOJ Lagos Daycare among others.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of PJAN, Mrs. Alaba Igbaraola, praised Dr. Ekine for her remarkable contributions to journalism and her dedication to creating opportunities for women journalists to thrive. She described her as a trailblazer whose impact will continue to resonate in the media industry for years to come.
She added that, Dr. Adeola Ekine epitomizes dedication and commitment as the Chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Lagos State Chapter, with an unwavering focus on advancing the rights and interests of women in journalism, she tirelessly champions various initiatives aimed at empowering female journalists across Lagos State. Dr. Ekine’s leadership is characterized by her exceptional work ethics and a steadfast determination to bring about positive change within the association and the broader community.
Her tenure as Chairperson has been marked by innovative approaches and strategic decision-making, positioning NAWOJ Lagos as a trailblazer in the field. Her visionary leadership style fosters collaboration and inclusivity, empowering members to actively participate in shaping the chapter’s agenda and driving impactful initiatives. With her unparalleled dedication and leadership prowess, she has earned widespread recognition as the epitome of excellence.
