Physically challenged tricycle snatchers arrested in Lagos

An attempt to commit an offence with snatching of tricycle leads to the arrest of two suspects while one fled.

On October 10,2024 at about 3pm, a complainant who is physically challenged and a tricycle rider reported at Denton Police Station that on October 9th at about 8pm he picked up three passengers at General Pay Ajah namely; Mande Bello ‘M’ aged 30, Samsudeen Usman ‘M’ aged 23 and Gazali ‘M’ all physically challenged to Boson Roundabout Oyingbo.

The complainant( tricycle rider) further stated that the physically challenged passengers begged cut journey short and instead alight at the Third mainland bridge intersection. The driver stated that he declined but later agreed to their plea.

The complainant however stated that while the 3 snatchers alighted at the proposed intersection, Mande Bello brought out a cable wire to strangulate him and that he wrestled them and forcefully turned back to Okobaba with two of the suspects, Mande Bello and Samsudeen Usman while Gazali escaped at the scene.

On the receipt of the case, two suspects were arrested and their statement recorded. Preliminary investigation revealed that the three suspects specializes in snatching tricycle from unsuspecting members of the public in Lagos state.

Investigation is ongoing and effort is being made to apprehend the other fleeing suspect.
