Nigerian Army soldiers have begun a thorough stop-and-search operation around the city of Jos as part of Operation Enduring Peace.
The drill started on Friday, according to a statement released on Saturday by Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace.
According to him, the intervention is a component of a larger responsibility to guarantee the protection of people and property in Plateau State and restore complete normalcy.
According to the statement, forces successfully caught and detained two suspects as a result of the increased security presence. They also found one fake AK-47 weapon, four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and one pump action gun.
According to the statement, “the arrest and recoveries were made during targeted operations conducted across key flashpoints and transit routes, including Jos North and Jos South, along Dadinkowa, the Old Airport Junction, Tudun Wada, and the State Low-cost housing estate.”
Simultaneously, the army reported that the troops promptly responded to a distress call about intermittent gunfire in Shendam’s Yelwa Cattle Market region.
“The unidentified gunmen were forced to retreat into the surrounding bushes under superior tactical pressure upon the arrival of the troops,” the statement continued.
“Troops found two locals who had been shot during a subsequent sweep of the adjacent area. For immediate medical attention, the sufferers were transported to a local hospital.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its steadfast dedication to upholding a commanding security presence across Plateau State.
The statement went on, “The operations will continue with increased vigor until the threat of violence is completely neutralized and lasting peace is firmly re-established across all affected communities.”
