Akwa Ibom State Police Command says it has arrested one Happiness Alphonsus Iseyen, a 26-year-old male from Ini Local Government Area of the state, for his alleged involvement in defilement and armed robbery.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement in Uyo on Saturday.
John said operatives of the Command arrested the suspect in August 28 following information provided by a concerned citizen.
She said upon a search conducted on the suspect, a locally made pistol and one cartridge were recovered, adding that a discreet investigation to arrest other members of the gang and recover their operational weapons is ongoing.
While reassuring the public of the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents, John urged them to continue to cooperate with the police by providing timely and credible information.
Parts of the statement read, “On August 28, 2025, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested a suspect linked to a case of defilement and armed robbery in the state.
“Following a tip-off received on August 27 from a concerned citizen, detectives were able to track and apprehend the suspect, Happiness Alphonsus Iseyen, a 26-year-old male from Ini Local Government Area.
“The arrest was made at approximately 1340 hours. Upon a search of the suspect, a locally made pistol and one cartridge were recovered from his possession.”
