Sammy Ojeagwu, the brother of actress Regina Daniels, was arrested and placed under remand for reasons disclosed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command.
Ojeagwu and three others were charged with criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying, according to a statement released by FCT police spokesman Josephine Adeh on Friday.
Adeh clarified that the actress’s brother did not show up for questioning despite multiple requests.
He was detained in Lagos “under a duly issued court warrant,” according to the statement, and then sent to Abuja for an investigation.
“A petition alleging criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying was received by the FCT Metro Area Command on October 28, 2025, against one Mr. Samuel Ojeogwu and three others,” the statement states.
Following receipt of the petition, Mr. Samuel Ojeogwu received multiple invitations from the Metro Area Command to be questioned; however, these invitations were not fulfilled. Mr. Samuel Ojeogwu was detained in Lagos on the basis of a properly issued arrest warrant from a competent court, and he was then transported to Abuja for additional investigation.
“The suspect was charged in court on November 6, 2025, for offenses that bordered on criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, and theft following the conclusion of investigations.” The court has remanded him until his bail requirements are fulfilled.
“The command is still dedicated to due process, professional policing, and the rule of law.”
The arrest comes after a public spat between Daniels and her husband, Ned Nwoko, started in October when a widely shared video showed the actress sobbing and accusing the senator of domestic abuse.
In response, Nwoko said his wife was battling alcohol and drug addiction.
When Daniels accused Nwoko of planning her brothers’ arrests on November 3, the conflict took a sharp turn for the worst.
The industry has expressed alarm over the matter. In the past, fellow actress Mercy Johnson questioned the validity of Sammy’s arrest and campaigned for his release.
Daniels promised earlier today that she will resume her “abusive relationship” in order to get her brother out of jail.
