Police have confirmed the arrest of 153 armed robbery suspects at various locations over the past six months in Oyo State.
The Commissioner of Police, Ayodele Sonubi, disclosed this at a press briefing at the Command Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, on Friday.
Items recovered from the suspects, according to him, include twelve stolen vehicles of various brands and twelve motorcycles/tricycles.
He said, “The Oyo State Police Command is pleased to inform residents that within the past six months and eleven days, it has recorded significant successes in reducing crime rates across the state.
“This was achieved through a combination of intelligence-led operations, community engagement, and proactive policing.

“Between June 16 and today, one hundred and fifty-three (153) armed robbery suspects were arrested, twelve (12) stolen vehicles and twelve (12) motorcycles/tricycles were recovered, while forty-eight (48) firearms and one thousand three hundred and ninety-six (1,396) rounds of various calibers of ammunition were seized from the possession of criminals.”
In another development, the police have paraded 36 suspects for various criminal offenses.
CP Sonubi paraded them before newsmen at the Command Headquarters in Ibadan.
Sonubi added that the suspects were apprehended at various locations in the 33 local government areas of the state.
Their offenses range from armed robbery, kidnapping, hijacking, and truck diversion, among other crimes.
