“Police Nab Two Armed Robbery Suspects, Recover Guns & Ammunition in Ughelli Raid”

The Delta State Police Command has recorded a major operational success in its sustained fight against violent crimes with the arrest of suspected armed robbers/cultists and the recovery of lethal firearms and ammunition in Ughelli North Local Government Area.

Acting on credible, actionable intelligence on 28 December 2025, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, launched a swift and coordinated raid on a criminal hideout at the Otorwhodo area of Ughelli North LGA, Delta State. The operation resulted in the arrest of Moses Tejiri (male), aged 24, a native and resident of the area, while other members of the gang fled the scene by scaling surrounding fences. A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of: One (1) long Dane gun, Ten (10) rounds of live cartridges, Two (2) locally fabricated Beretta pistols, Eleven (11) rounds of live ammunition. During preliminary investigation, the suspect made useful confessional statements, admitting involvement in a series of armed robbery incidents around Ekredjebor, Olu Avenue, Winners Road, and other locations within Ughelli metropolis.

ARREST OF SUSPECT INVOLVED SALES OF ILLICIT DRUGS: Following an intensified surveillance conducted by the State Intelligence Department SID on 29/12/2025 concerning the indiscriminate display and sale of prohibited drugs in a hotel located at Victoria junction, Okpanam road, one Isu Emmanuel, ‘ m ‘, claiming to be a nurse at Guard Health Pharmacy Okpanam, was arrested. The said Isu Emmanuel was reputed for the sales and distribution of controlled drugs without doctors’ prescriptions to members of the public. During the operation, twenty-eight (28) sachets of tramadol, 100mm sixteen (16) satchets of Swindol, three (3) bottles of Barcadine containing codeine syrup and other prohibited and controlled drugs were recovered. The suspect is currently in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

The Delta State Police Command reassures residents that intelligence-driven patrols, targeted raids, and proactive crime-prevention strategies remain firmly in place to deny criminal elements any safe haven within the State. Members of the public are encouraged to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information in the collective effort to keep Delta State safe.
