In a reportedly viral video, Ishaq Abubakar Major, a well-known TikTok content creator, accused Senator Shehu Buba, the senator representing the Bauchi South Senatorial District, of having connections to bandit organizations. The Nigeria Police Force has now arrested Major.
At the intersection of Maraba and Nyanya in Abuja, the Major was reportedly hauled up by members of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).
The TikToker is being held at FCID headquarters at the moment, according to SaharaReporters.
However, it was understood that as of the time this news was filed, the police had not released an official announcement regarding his arrest.
The arrest came after a string of TikTok videos and posts in which Major claimed that Senator Buba’s suspected ties to armed criminal gangs rendered him compromised and unfit for public service.
According to one of the widely shared videos, Major stated: “This newspaper (SaharaReporters) portrays Senator Buba as a senator who has ties to bandits. Senator Shehu Buba is a senator from Bauchi, and that is what I want people to realize.
No newspaper would print untrue accusations against him without pursuing legal action since he has the resources and aspirations to become governor.
He hasn’t gone to court, though, because he is aware that the accusations are true. Until now, he has kept quiet about it because he is aware that if he does, evidence would be presented that could jeopardize his goal of becoming the governor of Bauchi State.
Examining a Senator
The Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence is chaired by Senator Buba, who has come under increasing fire in recent months, according to Naija News.

The senator has also been accused by Christian leaders of buying and tearing down a church in order to construct the mosque, calling the action offensive.
Backlash against Buba has increased due to his involvement in a potential peace deal with Bello Turji, which was mediated by Sheikh Musa Asadus-Sunnah, a cleric residing in Kaduna.
Leading northern preacher Sheikh Murtala Asadah denounced the action, claiming that Turji ought to be held accountable for claimed mass murders, abductions, and village assaults.
In addition, he charged that the government was acting with ethnic bias and cautioned that such actions might cost President Bola Tinubu electoral support in the North before the 2027 elections.
Constituents in Bauchi South have criticized Buba for financing a significant religious project in Jos while ignoring unfinished projects in his home base, especially an unfinished mosque in Toro, in addition to national scandals.
