The Nigerian under-20 Flying Eagles will play a preseason friendly against Kogi United Football Club, a lower division team, in which they will trade tackles.

The highly anticipated friendly match will take place at the FIFA Goal Project, Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 4 p.m., according to a statement released to journalists on Wednesday and signed by Kogi United team manager Tijani Ibrahim.

The team preparing for the Nationwide League One playoffs has made all the necessary preparations to play the Nigerian Flying Eagles, who are preparing for the U-20 African Cup of Nations in Egypt later this month, he said.

“Kogi United FC, on the other hand, would look to use the high-profile friendly against the Nation’s U-20 team to assess the level of preparation of its players and the entire team before the 2025 edition of the Nationwide League one, the third tier league, begins.”

The game against the Flying Eagles is a high-profile one, according to Coach Gilbert Opana, the team’s technical adviser, because both teams are getting ready for new challenges.

Given what the team has accomplished under Coach Aliyu Zubairu, the former Jigawa Golden Stars coach had previously told reporters in Lokoja that there is no better time for a high-caliber match like this. He also expressed his excitement about facing the Flying Eagles.
