The president has maintained that allegations of a continuing genocide against Nigerian Christians are unfounded and untrue.
In a new tweet on Wednesday about the “Christian genocide” debate, Daniel Bwala, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Policy Communication, reaffirmed the government’s position.
His remarks come after the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) accused the Presidency of erroneously claiming a claim to the organization during a Monday meeting with Bwala on the matter.
Recall that CAN accused the administration of distorting its stance on the claim of Christian genocide in Nigeria in a statement released by its president, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, on Tuesday.
According to Bwala’s version of the encounter, the Christian organization admitted meeting with Tinubu’s aide but condemned the situation, calling it “so-called.”
According to CAN, targeted murders of Christians have occurred in a number of locations throughout the Middle Belt and Northern Nigeria.
But according to Bwala, the government’s stance on the issue is unaltered, and semantics shouldn’t be let to lead to misunderstandings.
He noted that the purpose of the meeting was to have a conversation and make significant progress, not to change CAN’s stance or ask for its support of the government’s stance.
Tinubu’s dedication to resolving all outstanding matters and ensuring the safety of every Nigerian was reassured by the presidential adviser.
