Three nominations have been sent to the Senate by President Bola Tinubu for confirmation as Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs).
Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the letter from the President at Tuesday’s plenary session of the Senate.
The Senate Committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been tasked with reviewing the nominations in further detail.
The committee’s assignment is to carry out the required screening and deliver its report as soon as possible.

This action is a component of continuous initiatives to fortify the electoral body’s operating structure and guarantee its preparedness for upcoming elections.
This development coincides with the President’s other major request for Senate approval of a new N1.77 trillion external loan to meet urgent economic and developmental demands.
