After being detained and accused of criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, and theft—offenses connected to a petition allegedly filed by the actress’s estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko—Samuel Ojeogwu, also known as Sammy West, the brother of Regina Daniels, has been freed.
Daniels confirmed the news on Tuesday by posting a video to her Instagram page and expressing her happiness about her brother’s release.

As previously reported, on October 28, 2025, the FCT Metro Area Command received a petition, which prompted the Federal Capital Territory Police Command to arraign Ojeogwu before an Abuja court.
His arraignment took place on November 6, 2025.
Ojeogwu was given ₦5 million bail by the Abuja Magistrate Court on Monday, according to The Nigerian Lawyer. The bail was obtained by a legal team headed by Marshal Abubakar, a human rights lawyer.
The case was postponed until November 28 for a second hearing.
As Daniels thought back on the love and support she received while her brother was incarcerated, she started to cry on the video.
“Guys, do you realize that being loved by a lot of people is really such a big deal?” she remarked. Hold on, may I boast about that? Can I truly take pride in the fact that so many people adore me?
“See, I’m moved by the kind of love I experienced throughout this time. I’m happy. I’m happy. It’s funny that you assumed people would despise me, Ned.
“You all don’t know that.” My fathers, moms, uncles, brothers, sisters, friends, fans, online aunts, and fathers are all battling for me.
Afterwards, she thanked her supporters and admirers for their support.
“Thank you, everyone. “I’m at a loss for words,” she continued.
Sammy West’s release was celebrated by friends and well-wishers, including actress Mercy Johnson, in a different video that activist Omoyele Sowore posted on Monday.
The development coincides with Daniels’ marriage becoming increasingly strained.
In a recent video that went viral, she sobbed over her brother’s incarceration and lamented her family’s situation, adding, “I will go back.”
Her outburst came after weeks of allegations about purported marital problems with Nwoko, who has since refuted claims of domestic violence and attributed her actions to claimed drug and alcohol misuse.
