Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, called the release of a video that exposed a rowdy passenger in a lewd manner during an Ibom Airline incident “totally unacceptable” and ordered the staff members involved to face consequences.

On August 10, 2025, a passenger on an Ibom Airline flight from Uyo to Lagos, identified as Miss Comfort Emmanson, popularly known as Comfort Bob, allegedly attacked ground personnel and flight crew.

Keyamo posted a statement on his official X account on Monday, stating that although it was important to record her behavior in order to prosecute her, it was shameful that the offensive material was made public.

Keyamo stated, “Although we are in favor of filming her obstinate actions as proof to bring charges against her, it is reprehensible to make such evidence publicly available in order to make fun of her.”

“We just cannot tolerate that. We will not remain silent and allow womanhood to be devalued.

As a result, I have ordered that the person responsible for the staff members’ indecent exposure in that segment of the film be identified and given appropriate punishment.

Along with instructing airlines to retrain their employees in handling hazardous situations and public relations, the minister also announced that a joint security meeting including pertinent agencies will take place the following week to improve aviation security cooperation.
According to him, the passenger on Ibom Airline Flight Q153 from Uyo to Lagos refused to turn off her phone before takeoff, which is against International Civil Aviation Regulations, and the incident happened at about 2:54 p.m.

He claims that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has banned the traveler from all flights, domestic and foreign, for an undetermined period of time.

The DG of the NCAA and his team, the MD of FAAN and her team, the Commissioner of Police of the Airport Police Command, and the COO of Ibom Air and his team have all been discussing the situation with him over the past few hours, he stated.

She was confined at Kirikiri Prison after being charged in the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Monday for not producing sureties.

Keyamo cautioned that customers who engage in disruptive behavior risk flight bans and perhaps criminal punishment, and encouraged passengers with complaints to visit the NCAA’s Consumer Protection Directorate instead.

“We will continue to apply equal sanctions available to us in Aviation on any such errant passengers, that is lengthy flight bans and report the matters to other law enforcement agencies to do their bit within their powers,” the statement noted at the end.
