Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas has appointed APC Representative Isiaka Ibrahim as the new Deputy Chief Whip for Ogun.
According to reports, Abbas made headlines at the plenary in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to the Speaker, Ibrahim succeeded the late Adewunmi Onanuga, who held the position until his passing on January 15.
Abbas said the appointment followed extensive talks with relevant stakeholders and the APC South-West caucus.
Ibrahim, who represents the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency in Ogun, is expected to bring his legislative knowledge and experience to his new role.

The PDP-to-APC Defects of Magaji
The lawmaker for the Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, Hon. Amos Magaji, has announced his plan to defect from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Magaji read his letter of defection on the House floor, citing persistent internal PDP disputes at all levels, from the ward to the national.
The congressman, a two-term member of the House of Representatives, is the chairman of the House Committee on Health Care Services and the leader of the Kaduna caucus.
He is the deputy chairman of the House Special Ad-hoc Committee on the Restructuring of Government Agencies and Commissions, which is looking into the suggestions made in the Stephen Oronsaye report.
In addition to serving on the committees on defense, reformation institutions, rules and business, Christian pilgrimage, police affairs, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Councils, he represented Kaduna state in the House Committee on Constitution Review.
