A Plateau State cleric, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has said that he has personally conducted over 70 mass graves for Christian victims killed in attacks throughout communities in the state.
Dachomo, who is the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, made the comments during an interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan on the Piers Uncensored podcast on Tuesday.
Speaking on what he termed as ongoing genocide, the priest said the Nigerian government had continually understated the amount of fatalities.
He claimed, “I have performed several genocide burials, more than 70 times. Imagine some of the tombs had five hundred and one persons killed in just one night in Dogo Nahawa in a village named Gembruk.”
Dachomo accused the Federal Government of underestimating the severity of the atrocities purportedly carried out by Islamic radicals and bandits against Christian villages.
“The Nigerian government downplayed that one because the Islamic are controlling the government,” he stated.
His views come amid repeated denials by the Nigerian government that any type of Christian genocide is taking place within the country.
The pastor went further to suggest that Boko Haram was first created by high-ranking government officials as part of a political scheme to oust former President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to him, the plot was aimed to push Christians out of power and establish a Muslim president.
Dachomo alleged, “The background of the initial fact-finding is that many high-ranking government officials created Boko Haram to remove Goodluck Jonathan, who is a Christian.
“They caused riots in every village, and the people ran away; they were relocated. Their objective was to kill the Christians since Goodluck is a Christian. That’s why Goodluck stated ‘my blood is not worth it’.”
