The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has been warned by the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that if the state’s ongoing political turmoil persists, he could be expelled.
The acting state chairman of the PDP, Robinson Ewor, charged the former governor with a number of anti-party acts during a news conference in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
Wike may be suspended or expelled from the party as a result of these activities, according to Ewor, depending on how bad his behavior is, according to reports.
“The party has a mechanism for addressing such issues,” Ewor said. If someone is undermining the party, the state executive committees, NEC, and NWC have the authority to take action. When the party in Rivers State is totally under our control again, Nyesom Wike will face consequences for his anti-party actions, including possible suspension or expulsion.
Among the accusations made against Wike by the PDP is that his actions have damaged the party’s reputation. Wike is currently a minister in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet, which the acting chairman cited as evidence that he is now more devoted to the All Progressives Congress (APC) than the PDP.
Since you can’t serve two masters, Wike is employed by Tinubu’s administration. His activities have tarnished the PDP’s image and harmed it. “We’ll act when the time is right,” Ewor continued.
The recent ruling by the Supreme Court that Martins Amaewhule and 26 other MPs had not left the party was also contested by the PDP.
Affidavits deposed to in the Abuja High Court and the PDP’s public declaration of defection on the House of Assembly floor corroborate their insistence that the lawmakers, including Amaewhule, had already defected to the APC.
The Supreme Court might have made a legal mistake, Ewor said. The 26 others, including Amaewhule, have left the PDP. Before the ruling, they had defected, and we have proof that the APC received them, including the affidavit they provided.

Notwithstanding the continuous conflict, the PDP stated its support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his initiatives to apply the Supreme Court’s decision in Rivers State’s favor.
The 27 parliamentarians were urged by Ewor to change their minds and follow the decision for the benefit of the state.
“We applaud Governor Fubara for taking the Supreme Court’s ruling seriously. He urged the 27 lawmakers to support the governor and concentrate on what will be best for Rivers State’s citizens.
In their final plea, the PDP urged Nyesom Wike to “sheath his sword” and let Rivers State return to peace. Governor Fubara will be able to focus on governance and give the state the leadership it needs during this crucial period, Ewor underlined.
So that the governor can concentrate on the state’s progress, we implore Wike to let peace reign. Ewor stated, “This conflict is diverting attention from the work that needs to be done for the benefit of Rivers people.”
