The renowned cult leader and kidnap kingpin, Nkem ThankGod, was neutralized by the Rivers State Police Command’s agents. He is accused of killing four police officers, a couple, and committing numerous other atrocities.
A youth leader was also killed, according to the police, by the 42-year-old murder suspect known as 2man, who was from Ogbologbolo Community in the state’s Ahoada West Local Government Area.
At a news briefing on Thursday, Mustapha Mohammed, the Commissioner of Police, said this while displaying the miscreant’s lifeless body at the command’s offices on Moscow Road in Port Harcourt.
The criminal met his Waterloo after an intelligence-led operation on Thursday afternoon while trying to kidnap a target with his gang in the state’s Ahoada East Local Government Area. Mohammed noted that his crimes included murder, kidnapping, and attacks on government buildings and oil pipelines.
The CP revealed that the thugs had been on the police’s wanted list since 2021 for a variety of offenses, including killing a man and his wife. He claimed to have been hopping from place to place in order to avoid being apprehended.
“Men from the Rivers State Police Command have successfully neutralized a notorious kidnap kingpin and murder suspect, Nkem,” he said. ThankGod, also known as “2man,” is a 42-year-old resident of Ogbologbolo Community in the Ahoada West Local Government Area.
“On December 21, 2021, this person, a leader of the Greenlander Cult Group, killed Mr. Christmas Ede, the youth president of Okogbe Community in Ahoada West LGA. He was also responsible for a number of other horrible murders in Ahoada East and Ahoada West LGAs.
A spare parts salesman, three civilians (Mr. and Mrs. Rex Kiriki and Mrs. Abigail Victor), and two police officers affiliated with the PMF 48 were among the numerous people he killed in 2024 after obtaining ransom.
“In Okogbe, Ahoada West LGA, he also killed two Shell employees and took their Toyota Hilux.”
According to the state police chief, two Rapid Response Team officers were slain in early 2023 and SP Bello was shot by a second individual during a rescue mission in 2022.

“Nkem ThankGod was killed while trying to kidnap someone else during an intelligence-led operation. His gang members were injured but were able to flee, and they are being sought after,” the CP revealed.
He stated that he had been found in possession of two AK-47 weapons, five magazines, and twenty-two rounds of live ammo.
The CP reiterated the command’s dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens and state residents, emphasizing that the police under his command would turn the state into a hellhole for criminal elements.
Mohammed, however, asked the people for assistance in providing helpful information about suspicious activity in their neighborhood so that swift action could be taken, stating that the police would keep up their efforts to break up criminal networks.
