Joe Igbokwe, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called the altercation between Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria Michael Freeman and ARISE Television journalist Rufai Oseni “unacceptable” and “completely unprofessional.”
According to reports, Rufai was seen cutting off the Israeli ambassador who was trying to refute his assertion during a heated exchange on the Arise TV Morning show in a video that went viral online.
In the interview with Freeman, Rufai recalled what he described as Israel’s misdeeds in Gaza and other nations and stated that Israel cannot be innocent in the Middle East conflict.
But Rufai stopped the diplomat when he tried to refute the assertion.
“Wait a minute, let me finish,” said Rufai. I won’t be interrupted, ambassador. Allow me to finish.
Social media users’ reactions to the development have been divided; some have criticized the journalist for the way he interacted with the guests during the live television program.
Igbokwe responded to the development by saying that Rufai is incredibly conceited and disrespectful in a post on his Facebook page.
The APC leader asserts that he has requested that Rufai be fired by Arise Television’s management, emphasizing that he lacks journalistic training.
“Rufai is extremely rude and incredibly arrogant,” he wrote. I’ve requested his removal from ARISE TV.
