Prominent Islamic scholars have noted that the nation’s aviation industry will only maintain its safety status if employees and those tasked with crucial duties demonstrate discipline, follow laws and regulations, and instill a fear of God in their day-to-day operations.
As part of events to commemorate the holy month of Ramadan, they spoke at a Ramadan Lecture and Iftar Dinner hosted by Skyway Aviation Handling Company PLC (SAHCO) for its partners, clients, and stakeholders.
According to the ground handling company, the occasion provided a chance to improve ties within the aviation sector while considering the principles of unity, discipline, faith, and moral behavior.
Professor Tajudeen Olalekan Yusuf, an Islamic scholar who spoke on the topic of “Ramadan: The School of Spiritual Discipline, Economic Justice, and Ethical Business Transformation,” urged employees to maintain discipline and a fear of God while performing their duties, affirming that these are the values necessary for the safety and honor of a crucial industry like aviation.
“Ramadan is not merely a religious season,” he observed, but rather a training ground created by Allah to hone human character.
“Ramadan becomes relevant to professional life here,” he continued.
Speaking on the subject of “From Ramadan to the Workplace: The Role of Taqwa in Ensuring Ethical Practices in Aviation industry Airport Operations and Cargo Businesses,” Imam Ibrahim Tirmidhee pointed out that fasting is meant to foster Taqwa, or consciousness of God, which aids people in cultivating self-control and moral behavior in their day-to-day lives.
He stated that activities in the aviation sector necessitate rigorous adherence to safety protocols, accuracy, and accountability and cautioned that carelessness and compromise in professional responsibilities might jeopardize lives and cause disruptions.
The Managing Director and CEO of SAHCO, Mrs. Adenike Aboderin, stressed the company’s strong commitment in faith, inclusivity, and respect for individuals of all religious origins in her introductory speech.
