Mr. Adesoji Ogungbesan, the former Acting Executive Director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company (NSPMC), has taken legal action against an online publication due to disclosures about the circumstances surrounding his resignation.
Ogungbesan, who recently departed the government-owned security printing company, stated that he made the decision to openly address questions about his appointment, tenure, and departure in response to what he claimed were false claims regarding his position there.
He gave media in Abuja access to a statement titled “From Private to Public Sector and Back Again,” which he claimed was meant to describe his experience in public service and give his version of what happened when he was employed by the company.
He clarified that he joined the company in February 2024 after quitting the private sector in order to support the security printing company’s continuing improvements.
He claims that a formal interview procedure including senior Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) officials and members of the company’s management team was used to recruit him.
According to Ogungbesan, he was named Acting Executive Director, Corporate Services after being first appointed as General Manager in charge of Management Services.
He said that soon after taking office, he worked with the consulting firm PwC on an organizational assessment that was approved by the company’s board and carried out a diagnostic review of the organization.
Strengthening operating procedures, implementing quantifiable performance systems, and enhancing departmental administrative efficiency were the main goals of the review process, according to the former executive director.
Ogungbesan listed a number of measures that he claimed were implemented during his time in office, such as changes meant to enhance operational coordination, cost control, and internal process digitization.
Among the actions he emphasized were adjustments to operational protocols and work schedules that, in his opinion, greatly decreased overtime costs.
He added that the organization saved a significant amount of money by rationalizing data center licenses, and that the automation of performance management tools increased internal operations’ efficiency.
The implementation of Sage Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software throughout supply chain and finance operations, as well as modifications to some service delivery agreements within the corporation, were among the other projects carried out during that time, he claims.
In response to a story about a pest control contract at the company’s Lagos location, he said that fumigation and pest management services were covered by the approved contract for specific office and industrial facilities.
According to Ogungbesan, the deal was carried out inside the organization’s authorized fiscal framework.
The former acting executive director added that the company’s acting managing director gave him the order to retire from his role in early February 2026.
According to him, the email revealed that the organization was undergoing a management reorganization exercise.
He claims that after that, the firm received his resignation and formally accepted it.
Ogungbesan reaffirmed that he had served in compliance with established protocols during his tenure at the company and insisted that the board had not specifically asked for his departure.
When he thought back on his time in public service, he remarked that there were particular administrative and operational difficulties when moving from the private sector to government organizations.
He pointed out that in order to accomplish their intended goals, institutional innovations frequently need ongoing support and consistency.
Ogungbesan stated that he was grateful for the chance to work for the organization despite the circumstances surrounding his departure, and he expressed hope that the initiatives implemented during his time there would lead to further advancements.
Additionally, he expressed hope about the institution’s long-term prospects and sent his best wishes to former coworkers.
However, Ogungbesan said that he will pursue legal action in relation to publications that he feels distorted his professional background. He claimed that this action was required to safeguard his image and make clear the details of his time at the company.
