The Nigerian Senate has denied claims that it underrepresented or ignored Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s funeral. Ubah was a senator from the Anambra South Senatorial District till his passing.
The charges were rejected as unfounded media insinuations by Senator Yemi Adaramodu, the chair of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, in a statement issued on Sunday.
He emphasized that Ubah, who was a senator at the time of his passing, had been properly honored by the Senate.
“The utmost respect was shown to Senator Ubah,” Adaramodu said. The national flag was flown over his seat to commemorate his service to the Senate and the people he represented. Since the announcement of his passing, the Senate has been actively involved.
Adaramodu emphasized that the chamber honored Ubah with a full legislative day. One hundred senators attended the valedictory session, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, who praised the late senator’s contributions as a politician, businessman, and philanthropist.
According to Adaramodu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio led a powerful team to Ubah’s Lagos home to further demonstrate its commitment.

“The Senate had previously contacted the family prior to the burial, and significant Senate members were also in Nnewi on behalf of the Senate,” he continued.
Adaramodu called the allegations “preposterous” and said the Senate’s actions showed how much they respected Ubah.
He stated, “It is regrettable that anyone would argue that we did not honor him because we did not’storm Nnewi’ in a spectacular show-off.”
The Senate reaffirmed its steadfast dedication to preserving the late senator’s legacy and offered its sympathies to the Anambra community as well as Ubah’s family.
