The Nigerian Senator Ali Ndume, who represents the Borno South Senatorial District, has stated that he is willing to die in order to uphold his unflinching dedication to expressing the truth.

The seasoned senator stressed in an interview with Arise Television that his critiques of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration are motivated by a deep desire to see Nigeria embrace real change rather than by personal enmity.

“I have been in this industry for 24 years, and I am 65 years old. For me, God has taken care of everything. Speaking the truth and acting morally is all I have to do right now, and I’m willing to die doing it,” Ndume said.

Ndume confirmed that he and President Tinubu used to have a tight relationship, despite rumors that they were no longer on good terms.

Both at Lagos House and at Bourdillon, I would visit Tinubu’s bedroom. He is well acquainted with me. “He’ll say, ‘I hear you,’ if we meet casually,” the senator revealed.

Rumors that Ndume intends to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) and join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or a third force coalition were also addressed. Although he denied having such intentions, he made a suggestion that if the ruling party deviated too much from its path, he would reconsider his stance.

I will not jump ship because of this. He responded, “But I better think about the small ship when the ship is getting overloaded with unnecessary cargo and may capsize.”

Ndume’s comments coincide with rising APC divisions and heightened criticism of Tinubu’s style of governing. Ahead of the general elections in 2027, his audacious position has further stoked political debate.
