The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, is accused by former Senator Elisha Abbo, who served in the Adamawa North Senatorial District, of running the Red Chambers like his own private company.

Speaking on the Prime Time Show on Arise Television, Abbo claimed that Akpabio has repeatedly threatened to remove lawmakers who disagree with him.
“Akpabio has continued to repress and intimidate his colleagues in the Upper Chamber,” Abbo stated, accusing the Senate President of playing a key role in the removal of five MPs from various senatorial districts.

He said senators undertake errands, like as serving tea to the Senate President at his home whenever they visit, out of fear of being victimized.

Senators serve tea to Akpabio at his home, in case you were unaware. Okay, I’ll tell you now. I also informed him that he was no longer a governor. Rather than being your commissioners, these senators are our colleagues. You’re not being served tea by them,” Abbo remarked.

Despite attempts to destroy the institution, the former legislator stated that he is all for maintaining the integrity of the Nigerian Senate and the legislative as a whole. Tours of Nigerian culture

My defense of the Senate’s integrity has never wavered. “The leadership, not the institution itself, is the problem,” the former congressman stated.
