Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress’s (AAC) 2023 presidential candidate, has condemned the current coalition of opposition leaders developing in front of the 2027 general elections as “corrupt and complicit in Nigeria’s ruin” and pledged not to join it.
Rejecting pleas for unity among opposition leaders after they adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their political platform, Sowore reportedly made his stance clear in a strongly written Facebook post on Wednesday.
Sowore was urged earlier Wednesday by human rights attorney Deji Adeyanju to unite with other opposition figures in the effort to topple President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
However, Sowore quickly cut off the call, stating that he could not stand with those who had allegedly committed acts of national looting and betrayed public confidence.
“In Chicago, I did not assist Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the distribution of heroin and cocaine,” the former presidential candidate stated in a Facebook post.
