Three people were killed and seven others were injured Wednesday in an explosion at a plastics business in Ibi, near Alicante in southeast Spain, according to rescue services.
The explosion, which was caused by a boiler explosion, drove a strong shockwave across the industrial park, affecting not just the plant but also a nearby business, according to Valencia’s emergency service director general Alberto Martin.

Three of the injured are said to be in critical condition, and one of the victims was an employee of the nearby company.
Using a message on X (previously Twitter), emergency services verified the overall number of injured.
