The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has expressed sadness and condemnation over the kidnap and killing of the District Head of Gatawa in Sokoto State, Isa Bawa. Abbas described the act as “barbaric” and “inhuman”.
“In the first place, the bandits’ kidnap of the traditional ruler was barbaric, their treatment of the late Sarkin Gobir was inhuman,” Abbas said in a statement released by his media aide, Musa Krishi, on Thursday.
Abbas decried the continuous kidnapping for ransom in the country, stating that it “was unacceptable”.

He sent heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Sarkin Gobir, the Gatawa District in Sabon Birni Local Government, the people, and the government of Sokoto State over the irreparable loss.
He prayed that “Allah would have mercy on the soul of the late Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa and make Jannatul Firdaus his final abode.”
The bandits had kidnapped the late District Head of Gatawa and his son on July 29, and Bawa was reported to have died in captivity.
