Nigerians have been charged not to blame the government for the challenges facing the country and to turn a new leaf to see opportunities they can leverage to better their lives.
Islamic cleric and founder of the Al Haqdeen International Islamic Society, Sheikh Ahmad Dhikrullah, made this charge in Ibadan during the Hijirah Mukhayam 2024 closing programme that marked the end of 2024.
Sheikh Dhikrullah, who is also a philanthropist, stated that though times are hard in the country, it is not entirely the fault of the government, that the citizens are mostly to be blamed.
“It is not the fault of God either that the economy or the country is hard, because God does not orchestrate evil, and he is not the author of confusion,” he said.
He noted that crime, corruption, and destruction are committed by both government officials and common Nigerians.
In light of this, he urged all Nigerians, irrespective of their position and status in society, not to be quick to judge or blame the government because they are not perfect.
He advised both leaders and common citizens to watch their thoughts, words, and deeds, and use them wisely for the betterment of the country.
Sheikh Dhikrullah stated that humanity seldom has the fear of God these days, adding that most people rather fear their fellow human beings and hold money in high esteem.
The cleric further stated that the challenges and hard times being experienced in the country are a result of God’s anger, which everyone, both the rich and the poor, is experiencing.
He said that the solutions to Nigeria’s problems will come when Nigerians turn a new leaf and return to God, adding, “We should not deceive ourselves. We are reaping what we sowed.
“No one is righteous. Everyone has their flaws. When you ruin other people’s lives and reputation, how do you want your life to be smooth and good?”
Sheikh Dhikrullah reiterated that judging and blaming the government will not solve the problem, rather “amending our lives and homes” will.
He cautioned churches and mosques and their worshippers to desist from wickedness and deceit. He urged them to change their ways and ask God for forgiveness to move Nigeria forward.
