Yeni Kuti, a well-known figure in Nigerian media, has criticized Nigerian artists who compare themselves to her father, Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
Recall that Wizkid recently caused a stir when he asserted that he is “bigger” than Fela in response to his son Seun Kuti’s criticism of him and his followers.
Yeni said that Fela’s relevance even 29 years after his death speaks for itself in an interview with Arise TV after she and other family members accepted Fela’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2026 Grammys.
