In advance of the Super Eagles’ March international break, newly hired head coach Eric Chelle has unveiled his first provisional roster, which has an intriguing blend of seasoned veterans and bright young players.
Stanley Nwabali (Chippa United), who had an outstanding performance at AFCON 2023, is joined in the Super Eagles’ goalkeeping department by Maduka Okoye (Udinese), Amas Obasogie (Singida Blackstars), Adeleye Adebayo (Enosis Paralimni), and Kayode Bankole (Remo Stars), which creates competition for the position.
Ifeanyi Onyebuchi (Rangers International) gets his maiden call-up, bringing fresh vitality to the backline, and seasoned players like Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and William Troost-Ekong return to the defense.
Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City is in the middle, with Alex Iwobi of Fulham and Joe Aribo of Southampton in support. The addition of rising star Papa Daniel Mustapha (Niger Tornadoes) is an exciting surprise, and Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru join them.
Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, and Victor Osimhen are among the team’s standout attackers. The offensive options will also be strengthened by the in-form Nathan Tella and Victor Boniface of Bayer Leverkusen. In addition to Jerome Akor Adams (Sevilla), veteran attacker Ahmed Musa makes a welcome comeback.
It should be noted that the Super Eagles will continue to compete for a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup by playing against Rwanda on March 21 and Zimbabwe on March 24.
