The Swali community in Yenagoa, Bayelsa, was attacked by suspected cultists on Easter Sunday, and four individuals have been proven deceased.
It was reported that the attack injured a number of community members.
Newsmen were informed on Tuesday by a local who asked not to be named that the attackers were wearing masks.
The resident claimed that the attackers, who were in the mood for Easter, arrived at midnight in a Toyota Hilux van loaded with AK-47 rifles and opened fire on the residents without distinction.
The Bobos and Greenlanders, two opposing cult organizations, were allegedly fighting for supremacy over control of a market’s earnings.

The incident was denounced by Ayibanegiyefa Egba, the member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly who represents Yenagoa Constituency 1.
During his visit to the village on Tuesday, Egba expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones, saying, “This attack is brutal.”
I urge everyone living there to stand together and exercise caution in the wake of this catastrophe. I also urge young people to avoid harmful influences and vices that could shorten their life.
In order to bring the community back to normal, security has been strengthened, according to DSP Musa Mohammed, the Bayelsa Police Public Relations Officer, who verified the attack.
Mohammed declared, “The community has returned to normalcy, and security measures have been implemented to ensure no further breakdown of law and order or destruction of lives and property.”
