EPL: Mbappe names three teams that could win title this season

Real Madrid forward, Kylian Mbappe, has named the three teams that would be contenders for the Premier League title this season.

According to him, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City will battle it out to become champions.

The Reds are the current champions, after they finished 10 points ahead of the Gunners.

Mbappe, speaking with BILD, said it could be Arsenal’s turn as they have retained the core of their squad for many years.

He said: “Liverpool has to be mentioned first and foremost.

“But I also have high hopes for Arsenal, because the core of the team has known each other for a long time and that’s a crucial factor in football.”

“That’s tough [to pick one] — maybe Arsenal, maybe it will be their year.

“It would certainly be easier to say Manchester City or Liverpool.”

  • EPL: ‘Nothing has changed from last season’ – Carragher agrees with Arteta’s assessment of Arsenal

EPL: ‘Nothing has changed from last season’ – Carragher agrees with Arteta’s assessment of Arsenal

Liverpool icon, Jamie Carragher, has agreed with Mikel Arteta that Arsenal are yet to arrest their alarming lack of creativity against the big teams.

Carragher agreed with Arteta’s assessment of the team after watching the Gunners fell to a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

Dominik Szoboszlai’s 83rd minute strike from over 30 yards was all the Reds needed to secure all three points and take an early lead in the title race.

Arteta had described the result as disappointing, lamenting his side’s failure to take the very few chances they had in the game.

Carragher agreed, insisting that the north London side have done little to arrest their major problem.

“Arsenal’s problem is creating. That was the problem for them last season: they don’t create enough,” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“Arsenal needed to shift slightly, become a bit more proactive with the ball.

“Okay, you bring in Zubimendi, and you bring in Eze and Gyokeres up front. It’s only three games, but in the two away games we’ve seen Arsenal in this season, nothing has changed.

“Heavily reliant on set pieces, don’t create anything in open play and the best team in Europe for me, defensively.”

It was Arsenal’s first defeat of the 2025-26 Premier League season after just three games.

Meanwhile, Arsenal goalkeeper, David Raya said he was not able to save Szoboszlai’s thunderous free-kick goal because of the new ball introduced by the Premier League.

  • EPL: He’s reason we won Club World Cup – Maresca names top Chelsea star since last season

EPL: He’s reason we won Club World Cup – Maresca names top Chelsea star since last season

Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca, has lavished praise on defender, Trevoh Chalobah.

According to the Italian, Chalobah is the reason the club achieved so much last season, including their triumph at the FIFA World Cup.

The Italian hailed the defender following Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.

It was Chelsea’s second clean sheet of the season and the manager acknowledged the efforts of the England defender.

“Since he came back in January he’s doing very well,” Maresca told reporters on Saturday.

“The reason why we achieved what we achieved last season is also because of Trev, in the final against PSG in the Club World Cup he was top.

“He’s doing very well and we are happy with him.”

Speaking further, Maresca noted that Chelsea’s first half in the win against Fulham was poor.

The former Leicester City boss said for this reason, he had to rush off the bench to the locker room immediately Joao Pedro scored at the stroke of half-time.
