After Peter Obi defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, said that the movement would function inside the party.
He claimed that the Obidient Movement would support Peter Obi in his new party while adhering to democratic principles.
Following Obi’s defection from the Labour Party to ADC, Tanko reportedly made the statement on Thursday while speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.
He expressed optimism that Obi will win the ADC ticket contest.
“As Democrats, we will enter the race and compete fairly with each candidate according to democratic principles. With the enormous teaming population he is bringing into the ADC, we think Mr. Peter Obi will ultimately prevail,” he stated.
He did, however, add that the Obidient movement will uphold democratic values if Obi lost the ADC presidential nomination to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
“We will remain at the party and give the party the lease of life it demands democratically,” Yunusa responded when asked what the movement would do if former vice president Atiku Abubakar won the party primary.
With all due respect to the ADC, it gained traction when individuals began to support it. His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi’s enthusiasm was evident yesterday when the ADC car ignited with just one kick.
A number of Obidient Movement members are prepared to relocate to the ADC, he continued.
They are going to invest their millions in the ADC, and they have made that position quite plain. “That’s a confirmation,” he said.
