In Taraba, the soldiers of 6 Brigade, Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, have retrieved ammo and destroyed many bandit nests.

Capt. Olubodunde Oni, acting assistant director of Army Public Relations, signed a statement on Sunday in Jalingo that included this information.

According to the report, various bandit hideouts in Taraba were cleared through a series of clearance operations led by Brig. Gen. Kingsley Uwa, the Brigade’s commander.

Following intensive stakeholder consultations, clearance operations, and confidence-building patrols that were successful in the state’s northern region, the operation code, OP GOLDEN PEACE, was launched.

“The operation’s most recent phase, which focused on known terrorist and bandit hideouts near Lijam High Ground, started on November 28, 2024, in Takum Local Government Area (LGA).”

According to the statement, forces found two motorcycles, one AK-47 magazine, one portable Baofeng radio, and 27 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition during the operations, which also demolished many bandit camps.

On November 30, 2024, troops moved into the Akume and Ananum regions of Donga LGA to further ensure the safety of the locals, demonstrating the Brigade’s dedication to protecting people and property across Taraba State.

The commander of 6 Brigade, who praised the troops and urged them to maintain their vigilance, was quoted in the statement.

“We shall work together to maintain security and tranquility throughout Taraba State and beyond.

The commander is cited as saying, “This is our determined effort to ensure that the state does not become a safe haven for criminals and to ensure a safe and secure environment for the ongoing farm harvest season and the forthcoming yuletide.”
