On Thursday morning, suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central at the National Assembly, was briefly detained by immigration officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja as she attempted to board a flight to the United Kingdom.
The National Assembly’s leadership reportedly requested that Natasha’s name be added to a watch list, forcing her to be stopped and told she could not travel.
Immigration officials stopped Natasha at the departure gate while she was traveling with her husband to attend her stepson’s graduation ceremony in the UK, a family member who verified the story told The Premium Times.
She was informed that the National Assembly’s leadership had asked to have her put on a watch list and deemed a flight risk, according to the family source.
Since there is no court order limiting her movement and she has never missed a court hearing, we are curious as to why they handled her in that manner.

The senator reportedly objected to the travel ban and was observed calling top immigration and government officials multiple times, according to witnesses who talked to the aforementioned publication.
Almost an hour after being given the all-clear to board her British Airways flight, Natasha was halted at the airport.
According to one witness, “she was permitted to proceed after her passport was finally stamped.”
Recall that the senator from Kogi had been contesting the Senate’s decision to suspend her after she publicly objected to the change in her seat.
Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, was also accused of sexual harassment by Natasha.
Akpabio, though, has refuted the accusation.
