Mojisola Meranda, the current Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, is allegedly being targeted by the camp of Mudashiru Obasa, the troubled former speaker.
Remember how there have been several unsuccessful attempts to overthrow Meranda since she first appeared on January 13, 2025, and how there have been numerous attempts to put the beleaguered Obasa back in power.
Insiders who spoke to Vanguard over the weekend reportedly told them that there are signs Meranda could be fired at any time.
Following the Ifako-Ijaiye candidate’s rejection of the offer and the reaffirmation of Meranda’s unwavering commitment, the source claims that the most recent strategy is to elect a lawmaker from the West, ideally from Ikeja.
Because of their fondness for Obasa, APC leaders are allegedly planning to ensure that a proxy speaker from the Ikeja constituency emerges. A few weeks later, they would reportedly quit their positions to make room for Obasa, who is then anticipated to step down and make space for a preferred candidate to take the speakership.

Nonetheless, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain who spoke to the publication under anonymity praised Meranda and cited some of Obasa’s wrongdoing, asking, “Why isn’t anyone concentrating on the role of Abuja in trying to reinstate him, even with all the infractions and behaving like the elected members must get clearance from Abuja, especially at this stage of our democracy??” There is an excessive amount of flogging going on.
Even setting up a proxy was an attempt to get him back in a few months.
