The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, or LASEMA, has found three bodies inside a two-story structure that fell on Tuesday in the state’s Ikorodu neighborhood.
When the building fell on Tuesday afternoon, emergency officials said the fatalities were among a group of construction workers who were allegedly working on the ground floor. They turned out to be a teenage girl and two older males.
While the other two victims were retrieved from the wreckage during a protracted search that lasted into the early hours of Wednesday, LASEMA reported that the first body was found soon after the event.
The structure collapsed with a loud noise at around 2:00 p.m., according to witnesses, alerting locals and onlookers to the situation.
In order to facilitate continuing investigations into the cause of the structural failure, the bodies have been turned over to police from the Igbogbo Police Division, according to Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, who verified the situation.
