Tinubu Declares National Security Emergency, Vows Tough Action

On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu spoke harshly, announcing a state of emergency for national security and cautioning those who wish to test the strength of his administration not to mistake his moderation for weakness.

Additionally, the president gave the appropriate authorities instructions to increase the number of soldiers and police officers.

This came after terrorists caused increased security breaches in some sections of the nation, particularly in the states of Kwara, Kebbi, and Niger.

Remember that on Wednesday, the president added 20,000 more police officers to the 30,000 that he had already requested.

Additionally, Tinubu counseled state governments to reconsider the notion of setting up boarding schools in isolated locations without sufficient protection.

When gathering for prayers, mosques and churches should always look for police and other security support, he urged, especially in sensitive regions.

“Today, in light of the emerging security situation, I have decided to declare a nationwide security emergency and order additional recruitment into the armed forces,” Tinubu said in his own words.

“The army and police are authorized to recruit additional people by this declaration. To raise the total to 50,000, the police will hire an extra 20,000 officers.

“This statement authorizes the police authorities to use various National Youth Service Corps camps as training depots, even though I had previously approved the nationwide upgrade of police training facilities.”

“To debrief them and provide more effective police services when deployed to security-challenged areas of the nation, the officers being removed from VIP guard duties should undergo crash training.”

“The DSS also has the authority to quickly deploy all of the forest guards who have already received training in order to drive out the terrorists and baddies who are hiding in our forests. I’ve also given the agency instructions to hire extra men to work in the forests. There won’t be any more places for wicked agents to hide.

“This is a national emergency, my fellow Nigerians, and we are responding by putting more boots on the ground, particularly in places with poor security. These are times when everyone must be on deck. All of us Nigerians ought to participate in protecting our country.

“I would want to use this opportunity to thank our security agencies for their cooperation in securing the release of the 38 worshippers in Kwara State and the 24 schoolgirls in Kebbi. We shall keep up our efforts to free the other Nigerians who are still being kept captive as well as the remaining kids of the Catholic school in Niger State.

“I honor the bravery and selflessness of our military’s leadership and rank and file. Both our country and the military establishment itself are facing difficult times. I implore you to maintain the highest levels of ethics and discipline, to be unwavering in your resolve, and to bring peace to all operational theaters. Negligence, collaboration, and compromise are all forbidden. The Nigerian people rely on you, and this administration will give you the help you require to be successful.

Furthermore, our administration will assist state governments who have established security forces to protect their citizens against terrorists determined to disturb the calm in our country.

“I urge the National Assembly to start examining our legislation so that states that mandate state police can set them up.

“States ought to reconsider setting up boarding schools in isolated locations without sufficient security. When mosques and churches come together for prayer, they should always look for police and other security support, especially in regions that are vulnerable.

The Livestock Ministry was established by our administration in response to the ongoing conflicts between farmers and herders. I urge all herder groups to use the opportunity, put a halt to open grazing, and turn in any illicit firearms. The future of sustainable livestock farming and national unity lies in ranching. The federal government will assist you in finding a permanent solution to this issue in cooperation with the states.

“I offer my condolences to the families who have lost loved ones in recent attacks on soft targets in the states of Kebbi, Borno, Zamfara, Niger, Yobe, and Kwara.” I also honor Brigadier-General Musa Uba and other courageous warriors who have given their lives.

Tinubu Designates Ambassadors for France, the United States, and the United Kingdom

In the meantime, non-Career ambassadors have been proposed by President Bola Tinubu for the US, UK, and France.

On Wednesday, the details were disclosed through Mr. Bayo Onanuga’s X account.

The three candidates are retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are, Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu, and Ambassador Ayodele Oke.

“President Tinubu has nominated non-career ambassadors for three countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, and France,” is the complete message. The Senate screening will be followed by the finalization of the posts. Ambassador Ayodele Oke, retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are, and Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu are the three candidates.

First appointed in 2016, Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu was Nigeria’s ambassador to South Korea during President Buhari’s tenure.

Formerly Nigeria’s ambassador to the Secretariat of the Commonwealth of Nations in London, Ambassador Ayodele Oke is an alumnus of Emory University in Atlanta and a former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency.

“Retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are was an officer in the Directorate of Military Intelligence, Director General of the State Security Service (SSS) from 1999 to 2007, and National Security Adviser in 2010.” In 1980, he received his psychology degree from the University of Ibadan with First Class Honors.
