Prince Uche Secondus, a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has charged that President Bola Tinubu is misguiding Nigeria.
President Tinubu is leading Nigeria’s economy toward liquidation, Secondus continued.
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday at the public launch of two new books written by seasoned journalist and political communicator Ike Abonyi, titled Wadata Wonders: Memoirs of a Partisan Journalist and The Bubbles of Nigeria’s Democracy: The Musings of a Nigerian Journalist, the PDP chieftain reportedly made the submission.
He bemoaned the breakdown of Nigeria’s contemporary democratic system, pointing out that political parties lack institutional continuity and ideological coherence.
“We are far from reaching a point where we can say we have democracy,” he stated. Democracy does not exist in our nation. Our platform is aimed at winning an election.
“Under Bola Tinubu’s leadership, our nation is steadily heading in the wrong direction to the point that you might say Nigeria is about to go out of business. There should be a line of command from the wards and units to all members of the communities and political parties.

Secondus, drawing a comparison between South Africa and Nigeria, emphasized the necessity for Nigeria to establish robust political institutions, characterizing the African National Congress (ANC) in South Africa as an indestructible organization.
He compared it to Nigeria, where politicians routinely switch parties with no repercussions, claiming that such behavior undermines democratic stability and culture.
According to Secondus, “the country will not move forward until we establish proper democratic political parties where people can stay 30, 40, 50 years, build, and reconstruct.”
