Tinubu’s Spokesperson Update On President’s Health Status

In the face of fresh criticism over his early endorsements for the 2027 elections and frequent medical trips abroad, Daniel Bwala, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media, asserted that the Nigerian leader is “physically fitter than most presidents in advanced countries.”
In addition to defending the surge of endorsements that followed Tinubu’s midterm in office, Bwala reportedly made the claim in an interview with DW Africa, characterizing it as an internal All Progressives Congress (APC) tradition.
Regarding Tinubu’s health and his medical visits, Bwala responded, “The president of Nigeria is actually physically fitter than most presidents in the developed countries.”

He clarified that early support for Tinubu’s second term was not a planned political ploy but rather a component of the APC’s midterm procedural review.

According to Bwala, “a mid-term assessment is part of our party’s procedure or process.”

Thus, President Bola Tinubu is not the issue. We will evaluate the president, whoever is in office at the moment, at each midterm to see whether they have performed well enough to be trusted to remain.

Bwala claims Tinubu passed the test “with distinction.”

“We have measured that he has performed fantastically well,” he said. Because of this, we are completely sure that we have the backing of our people in 2027.

Bwala highlighted the Tinubu administration’s principal accomplishments and emphasized the importance of local government autonomy as a step toward strengthening democratic governance.

The first is the establishment of local government autonomy, he stated, “which develops democracy.” autonomy that grants administrators or chairmen of local governments vast resources.

According to him, states have been able to enlist vigilantes and acquire tools for monitoring, obtaining intelligence, and assisting law enforcement because of this autonomy.

Bwala also highlighted Tinubu’s leadership’s achievements in agriculture and healthcare.

“We offered dispensaries as well, like free caesarean sections for moms who are struggling to give birth,” he said.

“The administration’s rice policy has improved food accessibility, particularly for low-income earners,” he noted.

Rice is also available to Nigerians at all levels thanks to our policy,” he said. At the local level, people can also access medication subsidies for specific prescription medications.

According to him, since the administration began, around 10 million Nigerians have been enrolled in the country’s healthcare system.
